I am proud to say that I was the one that introduced Marty to Ham radio. I started to work at Canadian electrical supply in 1952. It later became Electro Sonic. Martin and I are the same age.

One day he came over to my house across the road
on Yonge Street to visit my Ham shack, my Ham call, then was VE3BCF. Martin was smitten with the hobby.

I work for Electro Sonic for 27 years. Martin was instrumental in changing my Ham call from VE3BCF to VE3WX.
As of this writing May 9, 2024, I am 90 years old. I was very surprised to learn that Martin was a silent key.

In later years when I went into business on my own, I am also proud to say that it was IR and son Martin and the Rosenthal family taught me everything I know about business.

Ahh, Marty, I went to my first Field Day in 1955 - we slept in his Cadillac and ran the station for 24 hours. I worked at Electro-Sonic then = 16 years old. VE3GXR. Sad to see him pass.

Martin was a very friendly and generous man supporting the ham radio community in many ways. As Martin was a member of the Quarter Century Wireless Association, Chapter 73, we had the privilege to meet him on a regular basis. He always donated items to our Prize table at the annual meetings and made many hams happy.

Martin will be sadly missed and always remembered!

Our sincere condolences to Truus and the family!

Truus, we were sorry to hear of Marty's passing.
I'll bet he's up there sitting with Fred Hammond and the two of them would be arguing about "Who is the greatest" The Marty would tell Fred, when he needs an item, it's only one not six !
I worked Marty in all four of his homes, Toronto, Aruba, The Netherlands, and Isreal.
