Mary Kathryn Campbell, of Toronto, passed away suddenly on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at the age of 60. Mary Campbell was an accomplished person. Always a strong student, she earned a Bachelor of Arts (Fine Art), a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and a Master of Health Science in Bioethics. Her many interests led her to varied and enriching roles in many geographies through the years, until she found her home at the world-renowned Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto where she worked since 2003. In her most recent role, she combined frontline care for critically ill infants and children with congenital and acquired heart disease with a role in bioethics. Mary had many interests outside of the workplace. An avid reader, a horse lover, an artist, Mary had the most talented hands that could knit, needlepoint, create ceramics and stained glass, and bake "treat of the month." Mary was part of the community having worked at a camp for children with cancer and supporting Indigenous health in Northern Ontario. She travelled and loved art galleries and museums, and was near completion of her goal to see all 37 Vermeers Mary leaves a loving family with a broken heart. Her mother, Mary; her brother, John (wife, Teri-Lyn; and children, Ashley (Brody Thompson), Zachary and Josh); and her sister, Norie (and husband, Stuart English; and children, Bruce and Sean). They have been the beneficiary of the love of the most ferociously loyal, witty and generous daughter, sister and aunt who maintained an encyclopedic knowledge of not just their accomplishments, but also their foibles. Mary was the apple of her father's eye (Bill Campbell), who died almost 40 years ago and who she sadly missed. There will be a service to honour Mary at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at Davey-Linklater Funeral Home, Kincardine. For those who wish to attend, the family will also host a visitation in advance of the service beginning at 11:00 a.m., and a reception following the service. A livestream of the service is available under "Photos & Videos." For those who wish to make a contribution in Mary's honour, the family requests the consideration of the Hospital for Sick Children and the Toronto Public Library Foundation.
