Mary ELLIS Obituary

MARY LUELLA ELLIS (nee McGill) July 1, 1928 - January 27, 2021 Passed away peacefully in her Burlington home. Born to Martin and Mary (nee White). Beloved wife of the late William Edward Gordon Ellis. Mary Lu was 'Mum' to her loving children - Doug (Diana), Judy (Tom), Bob (Karen) and Jim (Marla). 'Gran' to Jay (Laura), Chris (Manuela), Graham, Robin (Varun), Kristina (Tom), Sydney (Ryan), Carly and Anais. 'Great Gran' to Aiden, Adriana, Audrey, Andrew and Christopher. Mary Lu was oldest sister to Mac (Yula), Judy (Phelps), Andy (Laureen), Earla (Bill) and Mike (Sue). She will be sadly missed by all. Both Mary Lu (BPsych) and Bill (BEng) graduated from the University of Toronto, having attended high school at Lawrence Park Collegiate. Mary Lu's greatest focus was on her family and time taken away from home was dedicated to caring for others through Telecare and Welcome Wagon. Cottage life, especially the years at Burnt Island Bay on Lake of Bays was Mary Lu's joy and she welcomed family and friends to share this with her. She enjoyed current events, playing bridge, reading and crossword puzzles. As per her wishes, cremation has taken place. Mary Lu asked to have an intimate gathering with friends and close family, which will be held when all are able to get together to share hugs, memories and love. For those who wish, donations in memory of Mary Lu to Distress Centre Halton or the Arthritis Society would be sincerely appreciated by the family. www.smithsfh.com

It seems strange to think how few times I actually met Mary Lu since I have such a vivid picture of her from all Judy's stories. A woman whose great love for her family was clearly reciprocated by them all, and all those who came into her family. So sorry for your loss.

Please accept our deepest condolences for the loss of your Mum, my Aunty Lu. I cherish all of the fond and fun memories of the times our families spent together at Strathcona Drive and especially Lake of Bays!
