MARY ELVIDGE Obituary
Mary Ann Elvidge (nee Mary Ann Dorken) of Oakville, Ontario, passed away in her 96th year on Thursday, December 19, 2024, surrounded by family. Beloved daughter of the late E. Werner Dorken and Florence (Seybold) Dorken. Predeceased by her husband, Ross Elvidge (1968); and her son, Mark Elvidge (2009). Mary Ann is survived by her children, Eric Elvidge (Veronica Wessels), Diana Mathews (Harvey), Annemarie Elvidge (Eric Bornstein) and Francine Nelson (Ian Hopkins); her grandchildren, Jeffrey, Adrianne, Fraser, Alice, Kathryn, Evelyn and Alexandra; and several great-grandchildren. Mary Ann had a long and interesting life. She graduated from Westmount High School in 1945 and from McGill University with a Bachelor of Arts in 1949. She later returned to McGill to obtain a Masters of Library Science in 1965. Mary Ann enjoyed her career as a reference librarian at McGill's Faculty of Law and as the first full-time librarian at the prestigious Montreal law firm then known as Ogilvy Cope (now Norton Rose Fulbright Canada LLP). A graveside service will take place in the spring at the Seybold Monument in the Mount Royal Cemetery, Montreal, Quebec.
