Mary GOODWIN Obituary

A beloved wife, mother and grandmother died peacefully, in the early hours of September 16, 2024, with her husband, John, and daughter, Jennifer, by her side. Mary was known for her unwavering love and dedication to her family. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, John Goodwin; their children, Jennifer (Ian), Tim (Sally), and Geoffrey (Katie); and grandchildren, Emily, Stephanie, Sarah, Zachary, Connor, Graham and Henry. She will be remembered fondly, and her memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. Mary was passionate about hosting gatherings at her farm, caring for her gardens and many pets, teaching in inner city schools and volunteering for various organizations in the community. Mary was inspired by art history and so loved to plan trips, especially overseas where she could also spend time with Geoffrey and his family in London. A visitation will be held to honour Mary's life on Tuesday, September 24th, from 4-7 p.m. at the Morley Bedford Funeral Home, 159 Eglinton Ave. W. (2 stop lights west of Yonge St.), and the next day, a family service at Christ Church Deer Park, 1570 Yonge St., at 1 p.m. The family wishes to thank the wonderful staff at Belmont House for their loving care and support. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzhiemer's Society of Toronto or the Belmont House Foundation.

To John and family:
I was saddened to learn of Jamie's passing. As a sophomore when I entered Trinity College, she was a friendly and caring mentor that I appreciated. The last time we met was a surprise in the clinic of our shared oculist, when we found ourselves together waiting for cataract surgery. it was fun to catch up. Since I lived right around the corner at the time, she also traveled home with my daughter-in-law as chauffeur - and then we went back together the next day for the check up. I know she has been a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend of so many, and she will be deeply missed. - With warm regards, Norah Bolton
