MARY BEATRICE GREEY (NEE MATTHEWS) Born February 27, 1929 in Toronto, Ontario; died January 15, 2023 in Midland, Ontario. Mary will be deeply missed by Pat DeYoung, her beloved spouse of 32 years. She will also be mourned by her son, Stephen Greey (Ruth); her daughter, Madeleine Greey (David Fleury); and her daughter, Jane Evans (John). Ten grandchildren, Leslie, Matthew, and Michael Greey; Krystal and Nicholas Greey; David, Philip, Jessica, Caitlin, and Scott Evans- have lost their 'Beasie.' But they will never lose memories of wonderful times with her at the Cottage. Mary is predeceased by her parents, James G. and Bonnie Matthews; by her brother, James N. Matthews; and by her first spouse, David N. Greey. Mary loved life and lived it to the hilt for almost all of her nearly 94 years. In addition to her cottage life on Lake of Bays, she was a member of the Badminton and Racquet Club of Toronto for 78 years, also a longtime member of the Toronto Golf Club and the bridge-players' 'Monday Club.' Wherever she went, she enjoyed good times and cheerful friendships. Mary brought equal energy and confidence to her professional life. She trained and practiced as a psychotherapist in the early days of the profession in Toronto. She was first a founder, and later, at 70, became President of the Ontario Society of Psychotherapists. She was also a founding faculty member of the Toronto Institute for Relational Psychotherapy. Though retired for 20 years from her professional activities, she is still remembered with warm respect by those who knew her as therapist, clinical supervisor, teacher/trainer, or colleague. Mary supported many charities in her lifetime. If you wish to honour her memory with a gift, please give to a
Charity of Your Choice. Mary's loved ones would like to express appreciation to the Waves group of physicians in Midland/Penetanguishene, and to the kind professionals in the Palliative Care unit of Georgian Bay General Hospital. Mary felt very comfortable and safe in their care. While we feel the pain of losing Mary, we are also grateful that her slow passing from life into death was gentle and peaceful. At Mary's request, there will be no funeral; instead, there will be a Celebration of Life at the Badminton & Racquet Club, 25 St. Clair Ave., W., Toronto on Sunday, February 5, from 2-4 p.m. Arrangements entrusted to LeClair Cremation Centre:
