MARY LOU MERRITT

MARY LOU MERRITT obituary

MARY MERRITT Memoriam

In Loving Memory of Mary Lou Merritt (December 28, 1935 – November 25, 2024) It is hard to believe that a year has already passed since we lost our dear Mary Lou (née Mary Loretta Noble). Beloved wife of Gordon, who preceded her in death in 1990. Dear sister of Robert and his wife, Anne; devoted mother to Richard (Tara), Sarah (Gavin Kellogg) and Christopher (Christine Willows); and proud grandmother to Benjamin, Nicholas, Samantha, Erik and James. Mary Lou was born in Toronto and grew up in Chatham, Ontario. She was an entrepreneur and proprietor of Sara Noble Shops. She met and fell in love with Gordon. Together they started a family, supported each other in their careers and travelled the world. Mary Lou was an active member and leader in organizations such as Probus and Zonta. She also worked as a community service coordinator supervising those who were sentenced to an alternate diversion program. In retirement, she earned her Certificate in Financial Planning and coordinated and volunteered at CRA clinics to assist with preparing tax returns for those in the economically disadvantaged community. Mary Lou was an avid card player, voracious reader and she cherished spending quality time with friends and family at her cottage on Wymbolwood Beach. She will be remembered for her unwavering conviction, her fearless determination to stand up for her beliefs, and her remarkable ability to accomplish whatever she set her mind to.
