MARY SAURIOL Obituary
(née O'Reilly) 1929-2025 Passed peacefully, on April 5th, at the age of 95, on her own terms. A fiercely independent woman, loved by her husband, Harry ("Bud", d. 1985); and cherished by daughters, Thérèse (Gordon, d. 2015), Christine (Jacques), Evette (Christopher), Yvonne (Gary) and Mary Ella (John). Grandchildren, Tristan (Andrew), Alexandre (Caroline), Drew (Min), Nicholas (Nadine), Katherine and Sarah will fondly hold their summers with Nana at the cottage in their hearts. Her spark lives on in her great-grandchildren, Erik, Sophie, Darren and Julien. Mary pioneered physiotherapy private practice in Ontario; upgraded her education from a diploma in physiotherapy (U of T, 1950) to a Master's in Education (U of T, 1993); and presided over national and provincial professional associations. An inspiring faculty member and advisor with the University of Toronto's Faculty of Medicine, an Assessor/Remediator for the College of Physiotherapists and an enthusiastically active member of the University Women's Club. Special thanks to good friend and constant, devoted caregiver, Sue. We also appreciate the spirited help from Lindsay, as well as the wonderful team at Mariposa House Hospice. In lieu of flowers, donations to the U of T Department of Physical Therapy or Mariposa Hospice House in Orillia in Mary's honour are greatly appreciated.
