Matthew Samuel Davidson passed away on March 24, 2026 at age 55, after a long and difficult battle with mental illness and addiction. Matthew grew up in Toronto and was the son of Miriam Rogers (nee Calvert) and the late Roger Davidson, brother and brother-in-law to Harris Davidson and Tina Bates. We choose to remember the best of Matthew. He was a gentle and vulnerable child who had many friends in the Whitney School community. As an adolescent, Matthew attended several schools, and along the way he developed many friendships that lasted well into his later life. For a time, Matthew was involved with the Jewish Family and Child Service and this was a community that remained very important to him. Matthew loved his pet dogs, he loved music, he loved to discuss politics, and he loved to challenge status quo thinking. Beneath the surface, Matthew was a fragile soul who faced immense obstacles that often felt insurmountable. We send a sincere thank you to everyone in his orbit who saw the spark that made Matthew special and supported him over the years through all his challenges. In Matthew's memory, donations may be made to the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH,
www.camh.ca). A private ceremony will be held to honour Matthew.
