MAY KARP

On Thursday, September 18, 2025, at The Dunfield Retirement Residence. Beloved wife of her true soulmate, Fred Karp. Loving daughter of Mary and Sam Harris; and daughter-in-law of David and Molly Karp. Mother of Chavi (Ellen) Karp and Robert (Bob) Karp; and mother-in-law of William (Bill) Johnston. Grandmother of Paul Karp-Johnston; step-grandmother to Brent and Will Johnston, and their spouses and children; and great-godmother to Jordan. Cherished sister-in-law to Allen and Sharon Karp and their children, Debra Kwinter, Amy Levine and Melany Godfrey, and their spouses and children. May was an acclaimed, and quite experimental, art photographer whose work hangs in many public buildings and private homes. She ran her father's business for many years and volunteered for the Toronto District School Board. She and Fred were strong supporters/collectors of Canadian art and patrons of classical music. Since many in her parents' families were killed in the Holocaust, she and Fred have been sponsors of the Sarah and Chaim Neuberger Holocaust Education Centre and The Toronto Holocaust Museum, and for many years sponsored annual symposia for middle and high school students. The service will be held at Benjamin's Park Memorial Chapel, 2401 Steeles Avenue West (three lights west of Dufferin) for service on Monday, September 22nd at 12:00 p.m. Interment to follow at Pardes Shalom Cemetery in the Community Section MM (adjacent to the NFJA). The family will receive friends and family immediately following the interment at The Dunfield Retirement Residence, 77 Dunfield Ave., Toronto (Green P parking on the west side of Dunfield). Visits will be held on September 27th from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., and on September 28th from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the home of Chavi (Ellen) Karp and Bill Johnston, 1081 McConnell Avenue, Mississauga (Port Credit).
