LERNER, The Honourable Mayer,Q.C. Retired Justice of the Supreme Court of Ontario. Co-founder of the Lerner & Associates law firm in 1929 in London and Toronto. A leader of the Ontario Bar for decades
Peacefully on January 11, 2000 in his 94th year, after suffering the ravages of Alzheimers disease for many years. He is survived by his beloved wife Jane R. Lerner, son Mark D. Lerner and daughter-in-law Janice. Grandfather of Joshua Lerner and Hannah Lerner, Stephen Cherniak and Todd Cherniak; great-grandfather of Daniel, Jennifer and Gregory Cherniak. Predeceased by his wife Ethel Lerner (1971) and daughter Barbara Cherniak (1988). Service will be held at the Logan Chapel of Furtney Funeral Homes, 371 Dundas St., London on Wednesday, January 12, 2000 at 2:00 p.m. Shiva will be held Wednesday and Thursday evening only. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer's Society of London & Middlesex, 931 Commissioners Rd. E., Suite 201, London N5Z 3H9 or the Mayer Lerner Family Fund, c/o London Jewish Federation, 536 Huron St., London N5Y 4V5 would be appreciated by the family.
