McCLUNG, Thomas Craig(b. June 5, 1921) died on October 18, 2001 in Cambridge, Ontario. Born in Sherbrooke, Que., to Forrest and Iona McClung, he was raised and educated in Lennoxville, Que. He served with the Hastings & Prince Edward Regiment in the Second World War - fostering both a deep love of the people of both Italy and Holland and many life-long friendships with his fellow Hasty-Ps. Following the war, he embarked on his career with Bell Canada. In 1949, he married Frances Mary Blakeney, of Petitcodiac, N.B. He remained active in the Hastings & Prince Regiment and, upon retirement, relocated to Belleville Ont., to play a fuller role, serving as Honourary Lieutenant Colonel from 1990-95. In 2000, he relocated once more, to Cambridge, to be nearer his daughter, Elizabeth. He is survived by his sister, Eleanor Knapp, of North Bay, Ont., by his children, Elizabeth of Cambridge, and Rob, of Hanover New Hampshire, and by his grandchildren, Luke and Sarah. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, November 18th, at 2:00 p.m. at The Armoury, 187 Pinnacle Street, Belleville, Ontario. Memorial contributions to either the Canadian Cancer Society or the Hastings & Prince Edward Regiment Association would be appreciated. Tom will be remembered by all who knew him as a true gentleman.
