Megan MCKEE Obituary



MCKEE, Megan Wynne-Jones M.D.

Age 93, of Toronto, beloved grandmother of Jennifer (Paul) Hodges DVM, passed away peacefully, on May 23, 2017, at Sunnybrook Hospital. She is predeceased by her husband Donald Manly McKee D.D.S and daughter Helen Patricia Wynne McKee D.D.S. Born in Petrolia, Ontario, she grew up in Brigden and Sarnia before moving to Toronto to pursue a career in medicine. Megan graduated from the Faculty of Medicine, University of Toronto in 1948 and interned at Women's College Hospital. She worked as a staff physician at Student Health Services, U of T for most of her career and was actively involved in research (breast cancer at WCH, spinal cord injuries at Lyndhurst Hospital, and rehabilitation medicine at U of T). She maintained various memberships including Gamma Phi Beta Sorority, St George's United Church, The Granite Club and the Naples Botanical Gardens. She was an avid gardener, reader and photographer, and enjoyed spending time with friends, family and pets (especially Boxer dogs) at the cottage in Haliburton and in Naples, Florida. Megan (Dip) was much loved and will be fondly remembered by all who knew her as strong, elegant and gracious. Memorial services will be held on May 30 at 11 a.m. and visitation May 29 from 7 - 9 p.m. Arrangements entrusted to Morley Bedford Funeral Services, 159 Eglinton Ave. W. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation and OVC Pet Trust fund would be appreciated.
