MERILYN ANDREWS Obituary
February 9, 1946 - February 17, 2025 With deepest sadness, we would like to announce that Merilyn Andrews passed away peacefully in her home in Vancouver, Canada, on February 17th, surrounded by her loving family. Born on February 9, 1946, Merilyn grew up in Singapore and Malta, attending boarding school in England. She pursued further education in Edinburgh, Scotland, where she met her husband, David. Following her training at the Florence Nightingale School of Nursing in London, David and Merilyn began a lifelong partnership built on love, resilience, and shared adventure. Merilyn's life was defined by an extraordinary capacity for care, compassion, and strength. As a young nurse, she founded a clinic providing care to Bedouin women and children in Abu Dhabi. Later in life, she provided care to children with Cancer at the Vancouver Children's Hospital. As a devoted wife, she stood steadfastly beside David, supporting him through a successful business career and a life-threatening stroke. As a mother, she fiercely protected and encouraged her children - Nick (Jacquie), Ben (Pam), and Sarah (Owen) - as they ventured through life and across the globe. And as a grandmother, she filled the lives of Claire, Brooke, Ashley, Brady, Austin, Luella, Olive, and Charley with boundless love, laughter, and warmth. Merilyn loved walking with friends and family, often using those moments to reflect, connect, and find joy in the world around her. She had a special gift for sorting through problems over a nice cup of tea, offering wisdom, humour, and kindness in equal measure. Even in the face of pancreatic cancer, Merilyn retained her smile, her grace, and her deep concern for others. She was, to the end, a beautiful spirit whose kindness touched all who knew her. Though her presence will be profoundly missed, her legacy of love, generosity, and resilience will continue to inspire those fortunate enough to have been part of her life. Her family and friends will forever cherish the memories of a woman who gave so much and asked for so little in return. A private service will be held for family, and a celebration of Merilyn's life will follow at a later date.
