Michael John Colls Died peacefully on Tuesday, October
25, 2016 with Morag, his loving wife
of 60 years, by his side. Born in 1933
in Trail, BC Mike graduated from Trail
High School and then from UBC
earning a Bachelor of Commerce
degree. While at UBC, Mike spent
many happy summers training with
the UNTD.
Michael began his professional
career with St. Regis Paper in
Montreal and Vancouver; then
returned to Montreal where he
continued his sales career with
Consolidated Bathurst. Mike finished
his working life with Consumers
Glass in Mississauga, ON.
Skiing in Ellicottville, fishing, golfing
and spending hours with family and
friends were some of his many
pursuits. He was a voracious reader
of military history, with a passionate
enthusiasm for naval history,
particularly Admiral Nelson, HMS
Victory and the Battle of Trafalgar. A
genial host, he was always ready for
a scotch at the cocktail hour and to
share his adventures from around
the world. His greatest gift was his
passion for talking and love of story-
telling, not always true! He was
known for his blue eyes, broad smile
and infectious laugh. He is greatly
missed by his three children, Peter
(Charlene), Heather, and Lisa
(Robert); and his four grandchildren
whom he adored, Hailey, Dexter,
Sydney and Max. His many friends
were found in Oakville, Toronto,
Vancouver, throughout eastern and
western Canada, South Africa,
Australia, Great Britain, the United
States and many other places in
between. Special thanks to Dr. V
Khan and the caring doctors and
nurses of C5 South at OTMH.
In accordance with Mike's wishes,
cremation has taken place and there
will be no funeral service. A
gathering of friends and family will
be held at the family home on
Sunday, November 6, 2016 from
1:00 - 5:00 p.m.
Donations in Mike's memory may be
made to the Oakville Trafalgar
Memorial Hospital Foundation at
www.haltonhealthcare.on.ca/ donate.html and would be very
much appreciated by his family.
