MICHAEL DUBRULE Obituary

With sadness, the Dubrule family announces the passing of Michael Dubrule, of Toronto, Ontario. Micheal passed away peacefully on August 13, 2025, in Luxembourg. Michael Kilburn Dubrule, 63, was born, August 13, 1962, in Woodstock, Ontario, Canada. Son of David Michael Dubrule (deceased) and Sandra Marion Dubrule (deceased). Michael, the "King" of Queen Street, amateur scuba diver, traveler and eclectic artist by passion, and Photographer by trade, exuded "cool" from his signature Stan Smiths to his long flowing hair. After family stints Greenwood, SC, Baton Rouge, LA, Guelph, ON, Michael would challenge Hamilton, ON, the UNB and Ryerson, before transforming the culture, style, and dynamics of Toronto's downtown west side from the mid 80s until the historic fire of 2008. The fire robbed a life's work but not his spirit. The arrival of angel Mary Grimbly (Carey) allowed Michael to spread his wings to Liberty Village, Luxembourg, the EU, and beyond for the most romantic adventure, ultimately marrying Mary in Luxembourg in 2022. Michael is survived by Mary Dubrule (wife) and family (sons, Philip, Peter, Simon, Daniel, and families); Robyn Noel Dubrule (sister) and Matthew Gerald Dubrule (brother) and Family (Mary Lou, Mackenzie, Maisen); Geraldine Dubrule (aunt); and the entire Kilburn Clan of Fredericton, NB, and beyond. There will be no visitation by request, and a Celebration of Life Services are being scheduled for Luxembourg on October 16th at 5:00 p.m. at the Church of Saint - Jean-du-Grund and in Toronto, ON, in December, with details being published in the coming weeks. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Cancer Association in Michael's memory.

To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.

Michael was such an artist! You could tell from the first time you saw him. He made my family and I feel very welcome and was there for us all the way to the end organising memorable dinners before we relocated and making sure we leave with a big smile. I remember the last Schoberfeuer we did with Michael, my father and my uncle. Those pictures are memorable. Michael you will forever live in the memories you left behind and Mary will keep your memory alive. Mary, we wish you all the strength in the world to go through this period and beyond!

Michael charmed with wicked quick wit and a laugh like a bolt of lightning. His passion for Mary and his life was immense. I miss knowing he is in this world sharing cremant and smiles with Mary.

Gone way too soon. Lucky to have called him a friend for the last decade. I will miss his smile and thinking of Mary as she navigates life without him
RIP - Michael

I don't ever remember a time with Michael when he wasn't smiling and being positive. I do remember he and I dancing to Led Zeppelin together at Philip's wedding (might have been AC/DC) - it was pure fun. (My sister) Mary loved him, and so I did, too. Rest in peace, Michael.
