MICHAEL MARA EBY

(1940–2025) Michael was the son of Major Blair Smart Eby and Lorna Mara Cox; and predeceased by his brother, Peter Blair Eby. Michael passed away peacefully, at home in Toronto on December 16, 2025. He was a true warrior who moved through life with courage, kindness, and a quiet strength meeting every challenge with dignity and resilience. Michael is survived by his devoted wife of 61 years, Patricia, with whom he shared a lifetime of love, partnership and unwavering support. He was a cherished father of David (Kim), Mara (Tim Cooper) and Geoff (Carol). Michael is also the proud and loving grandfather to six adoring grandchildren: Carter, Haddan (deceased) and Harper Eby, Charlotte Cooper, Jamie and Lorenzo Eby. A proud alumnus of Upper Canada College and Huron College. Michael built a foundation that guided him throughout a successful career in the insurance business grounded in integrity, honesty and trust, values that were the hallmarks of both his professional and personal life. A longtime member of the Badminton Racquet Club, Michael deeply valued community and the many friendships he built throughout his lifetime. Among his happiest times were summers spent in Muskoka. It was there, surrounded by nature, that he and his family created a legacy of laughter, togetherness and cherished traditions. Those who knew Michael will remember his calm presence, his thoughtful nature and his generosity of spirit. He leaves behind a legacy of compassion and devotion that will continue to guide his family for generations to come. Michael will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
