Ben, Carina, Philip and family,
Just ran across this today. I am so sad Michael and for your family and his wife and children. I loved Michael deeply for two years in grades 11 and 12. He was so charming, funny, kind. May he Rest In Peace. Lorraine Pollard, nee Salvas.

Ive only just seen this. Shocked. Saddened. Mortified. Hugely regretful for not having had the chance to tell him in person what a positive influence he was to me. I remember Michael as a remarkable person; talented, imaginative and curious to the nth degree. An intellect for finance and the lofty mental gymnastics of international trade is, perhaps, one thing. But having a road hockey wrist shot from hell and a penchant for knocking the softball out of the park, an educator of great beers as well as being a dedicated bone man are noble feets seemingly, at times, yet more profound. To be that well rounded. Just a remarkable person.
My heart felt condolences to all of the Gestrin family. I am so sorry.

With our deepest condolences.
It was our pleasure to get to know Michael, Carly and the children on your visits to Thornbury and cycling the hills of The Blue Mountains.
Wishing you all peace and love at this most sorrowful time.

Michael was a wonderful person. We will now not write that article together that we had planned for the coming months. When I last saw Michael in Paris, he was joyous and spoke about how happy he was with his family and with his work at the OECD. I will miss your smile and your bright mind Michael.

We will miss seeing Michael swim Georgian Bay, beer garden chats at Bridges and of course, burger nights at the family home in Thornbury. Most of all we will miss his friendship. Jen, Adrian, Megan and Zoe
