MICHAEL HALLIGAN Obituary
Peacefully, after a short illness, on Saturday, December 27, 2025, aged 89, at Campbell House Hospice in Collingwood, ON. He was born the middle child of three brothers on July 18, 1936, to William and Gladys Halligan in Willowdale, ON. Michael left school early, helped his dad in construction when he returned from overseas, volunteered in the Arctic with Frontier College and worked on the DEW line before joining Emerson Summers in his early twenties, building a successful sales career that took him across Canada. In 1963, Michael married Elizabeth Hurley and they had three children, Kevin, Suzanne and Jamie (deceased). He moved from North Toronto to Thornhill, and subsequently Collingwood in recent years. Michael was predeceased by Elizabeth, and by his second wife, Liz Wright. He leaves behind his friend, Bev Rendall; his children, Kevin, Suzanne; Liz's daughter, Andrea Blonde, her children, Izzy and Emile; and grandchildren, Caitlin, Hallie and Duncan. Michael was steady and generous in spirit. He looked people in the eye when listening and speaking and saw people as their best selves, not their circumstances. He was quick to joke (often cringe-worthy) and loved building communities and friendships wherever he lived (Sheldrake Blvd., John Street and Westwind Drive). He remained lifelong friends with many. We will miss him terribly, but are grateful for the innumerable qualities and traits he passed on to us and his grandchildren. A celebration of life will take place at Fawcett Funeral Home in Collingwood on Thursday, January 8th, from 2 -5 p.m., with tributes at 3:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to be made in Michael's name to Georgian Triangle Hospital or to a charity of your choice.
