Michael HOFSTETTER Obituary

MICHAEL ROBERT HOFSTETTER May 24, 1944 February 4, 2022 Michael died at home February 4, 2022 at the age of 77, surrounded by his family. Born in Toronto, educated at Agincourt Collegiate, University of Toronto and Ryerson, his life was filled with many passionate interests and with the love of family. He was a swimmer, photographer, gardener, woodturner, painter and baker. He pursued these activities with a keen desire to master skills and learn everything he could. He was a founding member of the Woodturners Guild of Ontario and a student for many years at the Toronto School of Art, but his proudest accomplishment was being a stay-at-home father to his two beloved children. Predeceased by his sister Linda DiMaria, Michael is survived by his wife of 52 years, Mary (Clarke) Hofstetter; his children Emily (Alex Stein) and David; granddaughter Hannelore; brothers-in-law, Frank DiMaria and Stephen Clarke (Elizabeth Black); sister-in-law Ryder Clarke; much loved nieces and nephews and their children; and many treasured, lifelong friends. A private family service will take place at Ogden Funeral Homes on Thursday, February 10. Those wishing to post remembrances and condolences may visit www.ogdenfuneralhome.com

I extend my condolences to the family. I knew Michael as a supportive and active parent of the Agincourt Jrn. School community, interested in all we were doing, and as a loving and supportive parent for his children. His woodworking craft was amazing! He will be missed, not only by his family and friends, but by the whole of the Agincourt community to which he contributed so much.
Rest in peace, Michael.

My sympathies to you and your family. We have certainly lost a valuable member of our family. I always looked forward to seeing Michael at our family gatherings. He was never shy about offering his opinion about almost all subjects and his insight was always valuable. We were lucky to have Michael in our family and all the knowledge and gifts he offered us. May he RIP. May you find comfort in each other now knowing how much he was loved and how much he loved. Be well.

My condolences to Mike's family. I was a good friend of Mikes in high school. He was an excellent athlete then and a lot of fun to be with.
