Just learned of his passing.
He was a friend and classmate during Briar Hill Public School
and early years at VRCI.
Great growth memories.

Michael was a good friend and ally. He was a valued guest on my Progressive Radio News Hour.
His comments and analysis of major issues were important for my listeners to hear.
He inspired my writing and activism. He's sorely missed. He was too important to lose. He's not easily replaced.
At the most perilous time in world history, we need many more like him.

I had the privilege of being taught by Professor Mandel in 2011. His 'Law of War' class was easily amongst the best law courses i have ever taken. It was a privilege and this news saddens me no end..Thank you Sir..

I had the pleasure of knowing Prof. Mandel as a student at Osgoode and afterwards through the Arab Cdn Lawyers Assoc. I always appreciated his uncensored, tell-it-like-it-is, legal analysis on the MidEast mixed with his trademark wit and good humour. He will be very missed.

On behalf of my mother, Gilda I would like to express our deepest sympathy to Karen and the Mandel family. My mom enjoyed many conversations with Michael (in Italian) discussing food, music and dance.
God Bless.

I so enjoyed Prof Mandel's Marxist Theory of Law class, which I took in the late 1980's, when the cafeteria workers were on strike. His lively lectures in support of the strike and his clear love for learning and the law were infectious. I was so sad to hear of his passing. My sincere condolences to his family. I will remember him very fondly.

Michael was a professor of mine at Osgoode and at the conclusion of one year, when I had no other options, he gave me a summer job, researching incarceration rates of countries around the world. He was a kind, decent and funny man, one of the best law profs I had. RIP

I met Michael a number of years ago when he wanted his father's old recordings transferred. Subsequently he issued a wonderful cassette of Max Mandel. We kept in touch over the years. Really sorry to read about this. Condolences, David and Donna

Its so sad. He loved students. I remember once he said: "I cannot tell you how much it pleases me to see new law students every year." He loved students, he taught every class with so much life, and laughter.

Professor Mandel loved students. I remember once he said: "I cannot tell you how much it pleases me to see new law students every year." He loved students, he taught every class with so much life, and laughter. He was passionate about justice and peace and this permeated all of his teaching. He will be remembered for his smile, his brilliance and his dedication to Osgoode. G*d bless him and his family.

Truly sorry to read about this. Michael and I met over a project to transfer his father Max Mandel's recordings, which were then issued on cassette. Condolences from David and Donna.

Michael was a force to be reckoned with when I attended Osgoode, and I saw no signs of that abating over the years. The world has lost much with his passing. With deepest condolences to Karen and the family on the loss of Michael-
Sincerely
