Michael McCall Obituary

(May 6, 1931 – September 10, 2025) Loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Michael died peacefully at his residence in Vancouver, British Columbia. He was predeceased by his first wife, Harriet. He will be deeply missed by his wife, Jo Currie; daughters, Carol (Charles), Leslie (Victor), and Allison (Enzie); and sons, Michael (Kathy), Tom, and Barry. Also by his granddaughters, Emily (Jeff), Lilian (Aidan), Virginia (Stephen), Melissa (Patrick), and Kymberly (Joey); his grandson, Alex (Emma); and by his great-grandchildren, Madeline, Henry, Leslie Grace, and Elizabeth. As a Ryerson University graduate, Michael was headed for a chef's career until he heard the siren call of the Royal Canadian Navy, and became a naval aviator, flying a wide range of airplanes and helicopters off aircraft carriers, in naval tactics exercises, and in search-and-rescue missions from 12 Wing Shearwater naval base in Nova Scotia. Later, he was seconded to NATO, and lived and worked in Brussels for several years. Whenever he found himself on land, Michael took to his beloved touring bicycle, leading tours in Europe and North America with his sons and, later, with his wife, Jo. Michael's ashes will be interred among his family members at the Oakwood Cemetery in Simcoe, Ontario. Yesterday

I am sorry to hear of Mike´s death.
We lived 3 houses apart on Queen St. in Simcoe.
We were buddies together those many years ago.
We also went to Ryerson at that same time in the forties.
As we went our separate ways, we did see each other in Peterborough in the 60´s. I did hear that he retired in Simcoe some time in the past.
I did see his brother Bruce´s obituary but nothing of his 3 other siblings.
Mike had a good life. May he rest in peace.
Sincerely,
J E (Jack) Runnalls
