Michael QUINLAN Obituary

MICHAEL FRANCIS QUINLAN March 29, 1933 - March 25, 2022 Michael Francis Quinlan (Frank) passed away on March 25, 2022, just 4 days shy of his 89th birthday, after being ill with Dementia for several years. He is predeceased by his sister, Patricia Kathleen, and his parents, Michael Joseph and Esther Patricia (née Farrell). He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth; his daughters, Stephanie (Martin) and Shelagh (John); granddaughters, Olivia and Saoirse; his brother, Tom and his sister, Clare. Frank graduated from St. Michael's College at University of Toronto with a BA in English and Latin, followed by an MA in English. He worked first as an English teacher, then a journalist with the Windsor Star, before moving into public relations and communications at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education. That job launched him into a long and successful career as a freelance writer and editor in the education sector before he segued into medical editing at Sick Kids Hospital at the end of his career. Frank enjoyed classical music, the theatre, cryptic crossword puzzles and was an avid reader. A service will be held at Morley Bedford Funeral Home on Saturday, April 2. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Doctors Without Borders and the Lewy Body Dementia Association. The family would like to thank the staff at Kensington Gardens for taking such good care of Frank.

I recall Michael taught in North Bay in 1958. I remember our periodic chats. I found him to be easy-going, friendly and a fine person. Sympathy to the Family.

Our sincerest condolences to Liz and the family. We have wonderful memories attending the Elora Festival with Frank and Liz. We will especially miss Frank´s witty annual Christmas message. R.I.P. Frank.
