Michael RIDDELL Obituary

RIDDELL, Michael Fenton

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Michael Fenton Riddell on Tuesday, October 7, 2014 at age 47. Loving husband of 17 years and best friend to Amy (née Langill); proud and devoted father of Morgan, Zachary and Jacob; beloved son of Mary Riddell, and predeceased by his father, Barry; brother of Marcelline Riddell (Ted Kelterborn); son-in-law of Judy and David; brother-in-law of David (Michelle), and Jim (Meghan); loving uncle to Barry, Avery, Brady, Nolan and Madelyn. Mike passed away peacefully at Grand River Hospital following a brief and courageous battle with cancer. He will be forever remembered by all who knew him for his kindness, sense of humour, dedication, compassion and love for his family. An avid snowboarder, Mike loved to spend his time with his family at Chicopee, Mont Tremblant and Blue Mountain. Mike was a Certified Management Accountant and was well respected throughout his career in the financial management and health care sectors, most recently within the Department of Family Medicine, Faculty of Health Sciences at McMaster University. Friends and family are invited to share their memories of Mike during visitation at Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener, Ontario (519) 749-8467 on Friday, October 10th from 2:00-4:00 p.m. or 6:00-8:00 p.m. A memorial service celebrating Mike's life will be held at St. Mark's Catholic Church, 55 Driftwood Drive, Kitchener, Ontario on Saturday, October 11th at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Terry Fox Foundation would be appreciated by the family (cards available at the funeral home). A sincere thank you to the staff at Grand River Hospital's Intensive Care Unit for their tireless efforts and professional care for Mike and his family during his final days. Amy and the family also want to extend their sincerest appreciation to Dr. Donald Hickman and Dr. Stephen Lloyd for their compassion and support. Visit www.henrywalser.com to view Mike's memorial.
