Michael STILES Obituary
MICHAEL STILES Mike was born in Buxworth, England in the beautiful Derbyshire countryside in 1940. He immigrated to Toronto in 1968, and established and ran his successful data processing business, married Ruthanne Hamilton Lindsay in 1973 and helped her raise her son, Stephen Lindsay. In 2008, after three years of worsening cardiomyopathy, Michael received a successful heart transplant at TGH which gave him 12 1/2 more years before he died under palliative care in NYGH Wednesday, May 5 at the age of 81. Mike was an avid cyclist and skier. He enjoyed cycling around Toronto and Ontario, and skiing in Colorado. Michael appreciated music, especially classical and particularly Wagnerian opera. He and Ruthanne also loved the National Ballet. Here in Toronto, he will be sorely missed by Ruthanne, Stephen, many family members and friends and his 2 cats, L'Orange and Emma. He leaves his sister, Maureen Katrak and her family in Cambridgeshire, England and London. Cremation has taken place. No funeral due to COVID restrictions.
