MICHAEL WHITTINGHAM Obituary
(August 10, 1945 – September 1, 2025) Michael died unexpectedly in Toronto, following his 80th birthday. Born to a Canadian father (David Whittingham) and American mother (Dorothy Bauckus), Michael was raised in his early years in Buffalo, NY. For high school and beyond, he lived with his beloved paternal grandmother (Constance Whittingham) in Toronto, attending Oakwood Collegiate and York University, where he earned his Ph.D. in Criminology. Michael served for many years as a part-time lecturer at York, while logging several decades as a Parole Officer with the Ontario Ministry of Corrections. Michael remained a bachelor all his life - yet almost always had a serious relationship on the go and regularly had a beautiful woman on his arm. Michael was an impeccable dresser and fastidious in all his habits. He enjoyed many years as a first-rate tennis player. He was widely enjoyed for his famous one-liners and irreverent sense of humor. Michael was predeceased by his parents and grandparents; and leaves a younger brother, Chris, of Alden, NY; and also two sisters, Wendy, of Orlando, FL, and Janet, of Ottawa, ON. He was also especially close to his uncle and aunt, Tony and Joan Whittingham (deceased), and to their family, his cousins, Anthony, Megan, Valerie and Lorna. Michael was cremated and interred in a family plot at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Toronto.
