Michole SHEA Obituary

MICHOLE PATRICIA "MIKE" SHEA 1949 - 2022 Surrounded by family at home while holding her husband's hand, Michole passed peacefully, after a five-year long battle with cancer. Michole, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend was born in St. Catherine's, Ontario on April 5, 1949; the oldest of five sisters (Marnie, Mary, Nancy, and Kathy). Michole was predeceased by her parents, William (Bill) and Joanne Shea. Michole is survived by her family: Husband Tim Taylor of London, Ontario; and son, Ryan (Sarah); grandson, Jack; granddaughter, Charlotte of St. Thomas, Ontario; and daughter, Katie (Lyle) of London, Ontario. Michole was a teacher and administrator for the Durham District School Board. Outside of the classroom, she was a coach for volleyball, basketball, and gymnastics throughout her career. Before retirement Michole was Principal of Brock High School and Donevan Collegiate Institute. Michole loved hosting several family Christmases and celebratory occasions over the years. A lifelong gardener with a green thumb, Michole created beautiful landscapes wherever she lived. Michole and Tim travelled extensively. Notebly they took a year off in 1999/2000 to see the world together. In retirement, Michole took up water colour painting and renovating a home in London. She enjoyed playing bridge with new friends and old, "The Bridge Babes", and spending time with her grandchildren. An avid reader, Michole would often have several books on the go and was always keen to discover new authors and genres. Special thanks to the staff at the LHSC Cancer Centre and VON Canada for their care and professionalism. Michole's life and legacy will be celebrated by her immediate family in a private ceremony.

Very sad to see this notice. I was trying to track her down to thank her for all of her kindness and support when she was my guidance councillor in the 80´s. I have never forgotten the numerous times she listened, sometimes until it was dark outside. I had a tough life back then and I may only be here because of her. She will never be forgotten. I hope this message reaches the family. She was extraordinary.

Mike was such a great mentor to me when I first arrived at Dunbarton High School. She was always thinking about how to make things better for kids and how Guidance could be inclusive to the whole school. I missed her when she decided to pursue becoming a Vice -Principal followed by Principal. I'll never forget her visit to the cottage. She was such a kind soul. So sorry to hear that cancer has taken her too soon. Thinking of Tim, Ryan and Katie at this time. Hugs

I had the pleasure of having Mike as my very fair and knowledgeable boss (guidance head and principal) at two different Durham schools. So sorry to learn about her passing. Condolences to Tim, their children and all family members and friends.
