Milan KOSTURIK Obituary

KOSTURIK, Milan John

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Milan John Kosturik on November 19, 2014. He will be forever missed by his loving wife of 53 years, Goldie (nee Szeman), sons, Michael (Wendy), Mark (Angela), and Frank (Carol), and by his loving grandchildren, Elizabeth, Carolyn, Mark Jr., Julianna, Lauren, Sarah, Andrea, and Nea. Born October 23, 1936 in the village of Podkonice, Slovakia to Michal and Helen Kosturik, Milan left 'the old country' for Canada at the age of one, where he grew up in Niagara Falls, Ontario. After completing high school Milan went on to earn a mechanical engineering degree from the University of Buffalo. He began his career with Norton Abrasives in Chippewa, Ontario before moving on to the telecommunications world in 1970 with Northern Electric in Bramalea, Ontario. He forged many lifelong friendships with colleagues and coworkers and kept in touch with many following his retirement in 1996. He was especially proud to be Vice President of Quality at Northern Telecom at a time of huge change as we entered the digital world. This role allowed him the opportunity to travel the world with Goldie and gain countless fond memories. Most important to Milan, however, was family, both immediate and extended. To his immediate family he was Papa and his affection for his grandchildren was genuine and complete. To his extended family he cherished each and every moment spent with his cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews. His infectious personality and love of family landed him the title 'President for Life' of his extended K-Cousins family, a role he took as seriously as any other. He couldn't wait to attend each and every family reunion which have been held every two years since 1980 which from Wisconsin to Quebec and most places in between. Milan will always be remembered as a kind and gentle soul, an eternal optimist with a huge heart, and great compassion for others. Papa, you will dearly missed and in our hearts forever. Memorial Donations to Canadian Diabetes Association or Kidney Foundation would be appreciated by the family. Visitation will take place at the Kopriva Taylor Community Funeral Home, 64 Lakeshore Road West, Oakville (one block east of Kerr, 905-844-2600) from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday, November 21, 2014. Funeral Mass Saturday, November 22, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at Saint Andrew Catholic Church, 47 Reynolds St., Oakville. Condolences through www.koprivataylor.com
