Mildred LOWE Obituary

MILDRED JESIMINE LOWE (née CLARKE) Millie passed away peacefully on Monday, January 11, 2021, after a lengthy hospitalization, one month shy of her 87th birthday. Millie was a lifelong Torontonian who grew up in the Bathurst and Queen Street area with her parents (Daniel and Blanche) and her six siblings (Laurie, Alice, Eddie, Richie, Walter and Joanie), all of whom had predeceased her. She is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, Arthur, her beloved children, Darren (Maari) and David (Jacqui) and her four adoring grandchildren, Hayley, Maya, Nolan and Peyton. She is also remembered by brothers and sisters-in-law, numerous nieces and nephews and current and past neighbours on the street where she and Art had lived for 63 years. Millie spent the happiest times of her youth participating in activities through the Toronto Parks Department, and fortunately enjoyed sports almost as much as Art and her sons. Although Millie left high school just before graduating to join the working world, she was still often the brightest person in the room. She was a proud employee of Bell Canada for her entire working career. She and Art enjoyed travel in retirement, she was a doting grandmother, an avid mystery reader and loved to bake. For years Millie took an active role in her church, St. Barnabas on the Danforth, and in particular, was a driving force behind their annual bazaar. She was a trusted friend and support to family and friends and always looked forward to her weekly phone calls with sister-in-law Monica. Her loving family was always most important to her, and most particularly in her last years, keeping Art happy, healthy and at home as he struggled with dementia, which became a full time job that she managed extremely well despite her own health issues. Due to Covid-19 a private family ceremony will be held. In lieu of flowers, please donate to a charity in Millie's memory that is important to you.
