MCDONALD, Mollie
(nee Mary Alice Eakins)

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Mollie McDonald (nee Mary Alice Eakins) on April 29, 2016. Mollie was born in Shaunavon, SK, on March 24, 1915, second of six children to Harry and Aileen Eakins. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Robert Stevenson 'Bob' McDonald and her five brothers, Jack, Ted, Tom, Jim and Pat. She is survived by five children: David (Joanne), Lynn, Stephen (Karen), Rob and Bruce (Meow); seven grandchildren: Stephanie, Bob, Haley; Shannon, Tanya, Craig, Trevor; and fourteen great-grandchildren: Joe, Mollie and Kate; Jacqueline, Matthew and Alexa; Elise and Hayden; Owen and Finley; Gabriella and Alice; Wyatt; and Abisha.
  After doing a B.A. and B.S.W. at UBC, Mollie worked for the Catholic Children's Aid Society, then became a stay-at-home mother. She later did volunteer work for the Elizabeth Fry Society. She was a faithful member of St. John the Apostle R. C. Church.
  Mollie was an avid golfer (Ladies' captain at Shaughnessy Golf Club), playing until the age of 90. She was an excellent fisherwoman, fond of Pennask Lake, and a formidable bridge player until age 100.
  She had excellent caregivers in her last years and a special thanks goes to Dr. Alison MacInnes. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday, May 5, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. at St. John the Apostle Church, 5457 Trafalgar St., Vancouver, reception to follow at Shaughnessy Golf Club.
