Myfanwy BENTLEY-TAYLOR Obituary

MYFANWY HELEN BENTLEY-TAYLOR On January 17, 2022, surrounded by love, our wonderful daughter, sister, wife, aunt, mother, and grandmother went home to be with her Lord. Having struggled with Alzheimer's Disease for almost twenty years she remained strong and peaceful with a kind smile throughout the cruel progression. Born on February 22, 1947 to Rev. Dr. Gerald and Dr. Kitty-Anna Griffiths in Cardiff, Wales. Sister to Ian and Jonathan. Her parents were called to churches in London, Johannesburg, Edinburgh and ultimately Toronto. Here, at Calvary Church she met the love of her life, Dr. Michael Bentley-Taylor. They went on to have four children. Myfanwy was an academic with a PhD in Medieval English. She also studied and taught music, playing the piano beautifully. For nearly 51 years, she was the loving and cherished wife and soulmate of Michael. The couple served together on the board of Overseas Missionary Fellowship. She took part in multiple short term medical and educational mission trips to Asia and Angola. She also loved travelling with her family and sharing the world with them. Myfanwy was a dear and devoted mother to daughter Anna and her husband, David Marshall; son David and his wife Sarah; daughter Miriam and her husband, Daniel Seitz; and daughter Elizabeth and her husband, Timothy Tutsch. Grandmother to Sarah, Grace, Peter, Daniel, Hannah Rose, Luke, Faith, Matthew, Isaac, Joy Anna; Kate, Emma, Andrew; Maria, Noah, Julia; Tessa, Owen, Isabella, and Caleb. To all who knew her she was gracious, thoughtful and kind. The family is truly grateful to the staff of Parkwood Mennonite Home who have tirelessly helped care for her over the last three and a half years. Her primary caregiver outlives her. Always by her side. Never giving up. Michael was with Myfanwy twice a day, feeding her meals, enjoying music and walking together. A true demonstration of love. Due to COVID restrictions, there will be a private family funeral service. In lieu of flowers, gifts to A Visit With Mrs. G (www.biblestoriesalive.org). Just read about Myfawny's going home to be with the Lord and into glory. She was always gracious and attentive with her beautiful smile and soft voice. She was lovely indeed. The picture of Myfawny is just as I remember her. Your wedding on Dec 12/70 was the first Christian wedding I ever attended. Your whole family was glowing. I trust that our God's Presence has been your portion during this difficult time. Will keep you in my prayers. Rosa McRann

We have worshipful memories of appreciating Myfanwy´s gift of music. Whether it was her classical playing on the grand piano at Willowbank, Bermuda; or playing the old upright piano at Ontario Pioneer Family Camp, August 1987 for the one and only joyous performance of The Music Machine - to the delight of kids, parents and grandparents.
Thank you for your life´s witness, good and faithful servant.
