Nancy COMPTON

NANCY JANE COMPTON (nee LAIDLEY) Nancy ('Nan') Compton, 94, of North York ON, unexpectedly on January 27, 2024 at North York General Hospital. Daughter of Hester and Percy Laidley. Beloved wife of late husband Frank Compton. She is survived by son Ian and daughter Ciaron Laidley (née Karen Compton), sister-in-law Shirley Laidley and nephews Charlie and Robbie. In recent years, Nancy was especially close to her dear friend and former neighbour Helen. Nancy matriculated as a nurse studying at the University of Toronto, graduating and then training with the Toronto Department of Public Health where she met her husband. Nancy was extremely close with Joan Watt of Delray Beach, Florida, a dear childhood friend, and Jean Petropoulos (nee Tipping), part of her nursing class of '53. That class joyfully reunited annually for many years and celebrated it's 65th graduation anniversary in 2018. Nancy was very proud of her family's fine furniture business, established by her great-grandfather, John Gibbard, in 1840 in her childhood town of Napanee, ON.
