Nancy PATERSON Obituary

NANCY EVELYN PATERSON It is with great sorrow that the family of Nancy Evelyn Paterson announces her passing on Wednesday, November 28, 2018, at the age of 60 years old. Nancy's battle with cancer ended peacefully. Nancy is remembered by two brothers, Doug and David; a nephew, Matthew; a niece, Amanda; and her immensely loved great-nephew, Shannon. Nancy was an electronic media artist and professor. She completed her undergrad at the University of Toronto and her PhD at York University in 2009, researching internet infrastructure and visualization. We are pleased to honor Nancy's request that her passing be marked by a 5 day remembrance - 'I'd like to show a video which I made around cancer. It is both funny and serious.' Please join us at the George Brown House, 186 Beverly St., December 8th through 12th in the Morning Drawing Room. Hours on the weekend will be 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; weekday hours will be 3 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Nancy was one of those people that once you met her she became a part of your life, you were never sure where or how she may surface but you were always guaranteed that every interaction would give you a new perspective on what you believed was important. One of my fondest memories of Nancy came from a chance meeting at a Canadian Tire store, where we spent almost 20 minutes in the exit vestibule discussing the work that she was doing to develop new programs at Seneca. This was typical of Nancy, no simple hey "how ya doing, see ya later", you were always left with something to take home and think about. I will always cherish, and never forget the times that I spent with Nancy, whether gorging on crab legs, working with her on video projects, sharing stories about boats and Florida, or just being an amazing friend to talk to.
