Nancy TUCKER Obituary



NANCY PATRICIA TUCKER On April 9 2013, Nancy Patricia Tucker (nee Newman) passed away peacefully in her 73rd year after a courageous battle with cancer. Her final weeks were spent surrounded by friends and family. Nancy will be missed by her husband Sherwin, her children Barbara (Alistair), Charles (Laura) and David (Charlotte) and her grandchildren Emily, Sarah, Meghan, Alex, Dani, Lauren and Kate. Dear sister of Janet Rowley and Graham Newman. Daughter of the late Wilfrid and Margaret Newman. Nancy was particularly close to her many cousins. Nancy grew up in St. Catharines Ontario, went to Queen's University and moved to Toronto to teach high school English and Physical Education. She was a gifted athlete, an avid tennis player and skier. She loved to play bridge with friends and knit for her grandchildren. She was also an enthusiastic book club member, cottager, gardener and an accomplished artist. The family wishes to thank the staff at the Palliative Care Unit at the Toronto Rehab - EW Bickle Centre as well as her tremendous Personal Support Workers from NHI. Special thanks to Doctor Anthony Brade at Princess Margaret Hospital. A service in celebration of Nancy's life will be held at Islington Golf Club (45 Riverbank Dr, Etobicoke) at 11am on Monday April 15th with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation www.thepmcf.ca , 416-946-6560.
