NANCY WARD Obituary

December 21, 1932 – December 22, 2025 Nancy Ruth Ward passed away suddenly and unexpectedly, surrounded by family. Predeceased by her beloved husband David Anthony Ward, Q.C., LSM. Loving mother of Martha (Walter Marquis) and Mimi (Mario Tarsitano). Nancy passed away the day after her birthday after being unwell for one week. We are devastated but are finding some comfort knowing she lived a full, vibrant, mentally sharp, healthy, and happy life right up to the end. Born in Kapuskasing, Nancy graduated from Queen's University and the University of Toronto. She had a fulfilling career as a schoolteacher though she found the most satisfaction in nurturing her family. She loved her family; daughters Martha and Mimi, sons-in-law Walter and Mario, and of course her husband David whom she spoke of often. Nancy was a foundation for David's success as a founding partner of Davies Ward Phillips & Vineberg. Nancy loved and was grateful for her independent life, maintaining lifelong learning and fitness, volunteering her time, cooking gourmet meals, knitting many sweaters and dresses, scholarly reading, and admiring art and music. She enjoyed spending time at the Granite Club, Royal Canadian Yacht Club, and the ski cabin at Georgian Peaks. She maintained lifelong and dear friends from across the country and around the world. Nancy will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, and lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to know her. Nancy will be truly missed. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the David Anthony Ward '58 Bursary at Osgoode Hall Law School via http://yorku.ca/give/osgoode. A funeral service will be held at St. John's York Mills Anglican Church, 19 Don Ridge Drive, Toronto on Wednesday, January 7th at 11:00 a.m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.humphreymiles.com.

Dear Mimi and Martha, I was sorry to read about the passing of your amazing mother. I have so many memories of "Aunt Nancy" at football parties at our place, and afternoons in your beautiful backyard in Don Mills. My brother Evan joins me in greeting you and celebratingcelebrating both your parents. Gordon, son of Robert

I've enjoyed the privilege of instructing Nancy in various exercises over Zoom for the past four years (from Montreal), and have always admired her unfailingly bright and chipper attitude.

I was fortunate enough to have a visit with her and two of our mutual friends this past summer, while vacationing with the family in Toronto.

My sincere condolences to the family. Nancy will always stand out to me as a wonderfully classy lady.

A great partner for David and someone Judy and I highly valued as a friend. I still recall with a smile Nancy calling me at the office to advise David´s absence due to flu which she preface with the words "Charles the Iron Man is starting to rust.
