Natalie Kuzmich gave me a lifelong love of classical music - even if her many talents as a teacher could not make me a musician!
My father said watching her conduct the LPCI orchestra was as good as hearing the music.
I, too, tried but failed to contact her to tell her that I had never forgotten her. I never will.

An amazing and passionate teacher and musician. She taught many students at Lawrence Park Collegiate in the early 1960's. I was very fortunate to take both music and English under her superb tutelage!

I was fortunate as were many other students when Mrs. Kuzmich [Miss Belz] arrived at Lawrence Park C.I to augment the Music Department with Mr. Woodburn and Mr. Christmas.Under her tutelage, I progressed as a violin player to be a member of the Senior Orchestra. Practises on the tiered wooden floors every week was tedious but also rewarding as Mrs. Kuzmich insisted on perfection with positive results. Our[her] crowning moment occurred at the Annual Kiwanis Festival where we achieved first place performing Tchaikovsky's Fifth Symphony out performing North Toronto [ our nemesis].
Mr. Kuzmich was a demanding, dedicated music teacher who inspired all her students to appreciate music. During her short term at L.P.C.I., I was fortunate to have the experience of her expertise, enthusiasm and dedication to music.
My deepest condolances to her family.

And I am Edgar Goodaire, sitting on the inside behind you Grant, in that classic photo! Mrs. Kuzmich was certainly a remarkable person. How do I get involved with this Friday LPCI Zoom?

It is with much sadness that we learned of Natalie's death and to the Kuzmich family my wife Anne and I send our sincerest condolences.
I met Mike Kuzmich during the summer of 1957 when we were both at OCE preparing to teach at Lorne Park S.S. During that period we spent much time together as colleagues and friends and with Natalie too. Michael and Natalie's wedding was a wonderful occasion we will not forget.
Our interactions diminished during the years that followed but the memories remain and are much valued.

Natalie Kuzmich ... fondly remembered
I was the `concert master´ pictured in your LPCI orchestra photo, a relished chair that I proudly held for many years under the baton of Natalie Kuzmich.
For impressionable students and colleagues alike, Natalie was a role model of highly self disciplined and dedicated behaviour. She set high standards for all of us and would often choose orchestral music that was a `stretch´ for all levels of music students. The music festival challenges with great competition from North Toronto Collegiate and others, heightened our spirits and drive for perfection. As high school students ,the orchestra tours, travels and billeting (Moncton, NB) created life long cherished memories.
Ongoing there is a Friday `zoom ` group of LPCI attendees from that era who often reference Natalie and her gift of a lasting appreciation for life and music. The Dvorak New World Symphony was one of our greatest achievements.
Natalie was very kind and considerate to me personally. On several occasions over the past 50+ years, I have called her and reminded her of the enduring impression and so very positive imprint that she has made on my life.

I am so sorry to hear of Natalie's passing. I am a 78 year old graduate of L.P.C.I., class of '62, viola player who so appreciated the gift she gave me in her instruction of orchestral music. I carried on after high school for 45 years or so as an amateur musician in orchestras and quartets until I went blind in one eye and could no longer reading for the length of time a concert required.
I just finished publishing my memoires and one chapter was "Who inspired you?" and Natalie is one of three people who inspired me. At the time of writing (last October), I tried to reach her in order to share this with her and I was unable to track her down in any way. I so wish she had known! In my writing, I realized that I, as a high school English teacher, had been strongly influenced by Natalie in that I too was a no-nonsense teacher who had high expectations of my students.
Having your.mom as my.teacher for five years has.led to such joy in my life. I wish I could thank her.
