Ned GOODMAN Obituary

NED GOODMAN On Sunday August 7, 2022, our Nunny died. Apparently the first thing to include in an obituary is the name of the person. Already a difficult task. He was: Ned Goodman, Nathan Edward Goodman, Nathan Eddie Goodman (we never did get to the bottom of the Edward versus Eddie mystery). Or (as his grandchildren knew him) Nunny. Nunny was a powerhouse businessman, philanthropist, intellectual, geologist, father, grandfather, great grandfather, recipient of the Order of Canada, and iconic hat wearer. He had the unusual ability to make himself simultaneously loved, feared, and respected by all who knew him. He survived so much through sheer force of will and stubbornness. He was fighting (sometimes literally) to the very end. He was a tough guy, but at his core, he was all love. No matter how bad a mood he was in, you could always win him back with a simple "I love you, Nunny" and a big hug. He is survived by a lot of people! Here are some. His beloved wife of nearly 62 years: Anita Goodman; his sons and daughters-in-law: Jonathan and Harriet, David and Bonnie, Mark and Lauren, and Daniel and Tiffaney; his grandchildren: Matthew, Jacqueline, Sarah and Koby, Ellie, Sam, Eden, Emmy, Kelsey, Emma, Anthony, Charlie, Lindsay, Lily, Justin, and Jaiden; his great-grandchildren: Rory and Willa; his brother and sister-in-law: Jeff and Marilyn; his sister and brother-in-law: Rosalind and Gerry; his dedicated and loving caregivers: Luz, Evelyn, Merlinda, Revelyn, and Georgia. He was predeceased by his parents, Mary and Charles, and his sister, Frances. We will always remember him for his kindness, drive, and generous spirit. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Baycrest. Funeral service will be at Benjamin's Park Memorial Chapel, 2401 Steeles Avenue west at 3 p.m. on August 9, 2022.

He was such a mentor to me when I first started my career. The one on one chat's that we had over lunch in the boardroom illustrated how a real leader created loyalty among employees. I will never forget his wise advice.

My deepest sympathy to the Goodman Family. I learned so much from Ned early in my career and I owe much to these learnings. Some of which I never realized until later. Although Ned was an amazing businessman, his greatest attribute was his love for his family. I think about my time at Dynamic often, and this always made me think about Ned, and always with a smile. I am so sorry to hear of his passing, may he Rest In Peace. Ned made a positive difference, and to so many. I was just lucky to be one of them.

Heaven´s gain is our loss. Ned is an extraordinary example of talent, drive, generosity and humor. I say "is" because I have no doubt he is watching all the hubbub from above undoubtedly smiling and grateful for a wonderful life of which he made great use. A true entrepreneur and family man, Ned left his fingerprints on many good deeds, seen and unseen. God love him.
