Nigel Robert Greaves Stephens
Born in Ottawa on December 10, 1925, Nigel passed away peacefully on October 20, 2012 at Peterborough Regional Hospital. Beloved husband of Gail, brother of Daphne, predeceased by sister Joan, father of Nigel (Andrea) and grandfather of their children Emily and Charlotte, and father of Tim. Nigel led a life of many passions, including the world of figure skating where he was 1945 Canadian Men's Figure Skating Champion, a World and Olympic Judge, and was inducted into the Canadian Figure Skating Hall of Fame in 1993. Graduating from the University of Toronto, he began his career at the Bank of Canada, and later retired from the investment counsel firm of his own name, which he founded. He enjoyed raising prize winning sheep and Australian Shepherd dogs. He will be greatly missed by family and friends. A celebration of his life will be held at St. John's Ida Anglican Church at 1758 County Rd. #10, Cavan, ON, near Peterborough, on Thursday, October 25th at 1 p.m.
