On Thursday, March 23, 2017 at The North York Senior Centre, while participating in a program he attended twice a week with fellow seniors. Beloved husband of Eva for 60 years. Loving father and father-in- law of Agnes and Ed Shapiro, Peter and Olga Szummer, Vivian Kerenyi and Andrew Turnbull, Robert Kerenyi and Sandi Halpert, and John Kerenyi. Dear brother of the late Gabriel, Edit, and Ervin. Devoted grandfather of Kevin and Sara, Andras and Anita, Jamie, Marton, Krisztina, Natalie, Mikayla, and Jaden. Devoted great-grandfather of Vilma, Ambruzs, Hilda, Linda, and Rebeckah. He was a Holocaust survivor, who fought for the freedom of others in the Hungarian Resistance. In 1952, he graduated #1 in his medical class at Semmelweis University in Budapest. He was a published author and a stock market aficionado. He was a man of many talents and countless accomplishments. He had a generous and adventurous spirit and a wonderful sense of humour. He was an extraordinary family man who always put his family first and who still gave a great abundance of time and support to his dear friends. He touched everyone who had the privilege of meeting him. He was a life long learner who taught many people things they will always remember and cherish. At Benjamin's Park Memorial Chapel, 2401 Steeles Avenue West (3 lights west of Dufferin) for service on Sunday, March 26, 2017 at 1:30 p.m. Interment in the Temple Emanu-El section of Dawes Road Cemetery.
