Norma HANINGTON Obituary

NORMA HANINGTON October 14, 1930 - December 3, 2022 Montrealer, gracious social butterfly, bridge whiz, book lover and a natural leader of every club and group she joined, Mum passed away peacefully at Nanaimo Seniors Village with both daughters and son-in-law, Peter, at her side. She leaves Janice (Peter McElligott), Sandra (Eric Windeler); and grandchildren, Benjamin and Julia Windeler celebrating her long life. Predeceased by husband, Earl; grandson, Jack Windeler; and sister, Rita Brown. Norma was born and raised in Montreal, and was working at Northern Electric there when she met Earl. After their marriage in 1958 they moved through a number of Nortel postings in Montreal, Ottawa and London before happily finding their dream home in Nanaimo, BC upon retirement. Mum's final years were challenging following a brain injury, but the wonderful team at NSV provided her with incredible care and always remarked on her beaming smile and lovely presence. We will forever be grateful to them. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to national youth mental health charity jack.org, founded and named in honour of Norma's eldest grandson.
