Norma passed away peacefully at Amica, Thornhill, just two months shy of her 96th birthday, with her beloved stepchildren, Linda and Curtis, by her side. Norma was predeceased by her parents, George and Gwendolyn; and her siblings, Vera, George and William. Norma was also predeceased by her soulmate and husband, Jack. Norma leaves Curtis (Patricia) and Linda (Dean); grandchildren, Jennifer, Jason, Sean and Kiera; great-grandchildren, Estelle and Olivia; and nieces, nephews and family from the Horwood side. Norma and Jack were married for almost 43 years and when Jack died in 2013, her life was forever changed, and she loved and missed him every day. Norma had an exceptional career at Crown Life Insurance as a Senior Group Underwriter before it was the norm for women to be supervising a team of mostly men. Norma and Jack met through Crown Life. Norma and Jack had a passionate and loving life together, filled with travel all over the world. She and Jack were Life Masters in Duplicate Bridge and attended both local and international tournaments. They were well matched in every way and led active lives together. Norma was an excellent athlete, enjoying particularly basketball and tennis. She and Jack were great tennis partners and won many tournaments together. She played well into her 70's. Norma started from humble beginnings in Humber Bay and as a young woman purchased property on Lake Rosseau, which became a beautiful cottage home which they treasured and enjoyed sharing with family and friends. They made many happy memories there in their boat, and cherishing the serenity and beauty of Muskoka. Norma came from a tough generation, and overcame breast cancer and a minor stroke in 2021 until a fall resulting in a broken hip last October became too much. She was mentally sharp until she passed. She enjoyed the Globe and Mail, especially completing the daily crosswords. She was a big fan of the Toronto Argonauts (Jack played on the Championship team in 1952) and Toronto Blue Jays. She was loved dearly and will be sorely missed. She was an exceptional woman and had a great life. The family would like to thank the staff at Amica, Thornhill, who did their best to make Norma comfortable during her final months. As per Norma's wishes, there was no funeral service and cremation has taken place.
