NORMA SPENCE Obituary
(nee Jerome, October 8, 1935 - February 12, 2026) With immense love and gratitude, we share that Norma passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family and a lifetime of love from all of her wonderful friends. As in all the things she did, she left us on her own terms with zero regrets and a life well lived. Norma was a very special person. With her warmth and fun, she made friends both young and old easily, enjoying all that they had to offer. Her friendships spanned decades and were so very important to her. Last minute plans, always YES! An unexpected drop in, YES! Fizzy group on Friday nights, ALWAYS! Norma was a nurse, a social worker, a mental health advocate, an ally to the LGBTQ+ community, and head of the Caring Committee in her building. These were just a few of her jobs, but beyond these, she was a woman of many talents and passions; a potter, painter, sailor, seamstress, French antique buyer, Halloween clown! and baker ("the bread lady of her building"). Her biggest treasure was her cottage on Spence Island. Living off the grid, rowing her tin boat, skinny dipping, martinis on the deck and enjoying all of this with her family and dear friends. Norma was predeceased by her eldest son, William "Bill" and leaves behind her daughter, Ann (Peter); son, Patrick (Susan); and her beloved grandchildren, KD, Sam, Zoe, Maya and Lindsay. We would like to give special thanks to all of the staff at St. Michael's Hospital who helped support Norma. As well as her dear friends and family members who were always looking out for her best interests with so much love and kindness, and Dr. Ailon who made the best possible transition for Norma and the entire family with compassion, dignity and love. A celebration of Norma's life will be held in May. In lieu of flowers, we kindly request donations to the Daily Bread Food Bank in Norma's memory.
