ODETTE COLEMAN Obituary

(née Gagnon) July 1, 1964 – December 28, 2024 Odette passed away peacefully, on December 28, 2024, at the Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale, Arizona, after a courageous battle with brain cancer. Odette's family and friends are heartbroken and will miss her every second of every day. Odette was born in Joliette, QC. She graduated from Laval with honours and bravely moved to Toronto. She quickly made many enduring friendships and eventually met the love of her life while fishing off the "Company Pier." She had an impactful career in public relations at many prominent companies, including Molson, Rogers and Manulife. Odette was strong-willed and determined in every part of her life. When she set her mind to something, it was going to happen, and probably at 100 miles per hour. She was a loving, dedicated and supportive mother, wife, daughter, sister and friend. Odette had a great sense of humour. She was funny and witty and sometimes a little cutting. She was charming, playful, and really fun to be around. She was optimistic and the exemplification of joie de vivre. Odette was very generous, a fantastic chef and an incredible hostess - no one could throw a better dock party or après ski extravaganza. Some of Odette's happiest moments were spent at Chaplain Island, Indian Wells, and on any ski slope, golf course or tennis court… She was tiger shark at the net. There will be Celebrations of Life for Odette in Toronto, Joliette and Muskoka. We also invite you to raise a glass to her every July 1st on her birthday. Odette is survived by her mother, Louise; sister, Annie (Marc-André); husband, Bill; and children, Camille (Ryley) and Riley. They are all certain that Odette is in Heaven joking around with her beloved dad, Jean-Guy; and her favourite aunts, Simone and Antoinette.

There are no words to express how sad I am about the passing of my childhood friend. She was always full of life, with a smile and endless energy. she was an absolute perfect mother to Camille and Riley. They certainly have an angel watching over them. Thinking of Madame Gagnon and Annie as the loss of their wonderful Odette must be difficult to accept. Lastly, my thoughts are with Bill also as it will be hard for him without your wonderful partner. Thinking of you all. The Kalamut family is here for you Riley and Camille always. Lots of love.

I am very sad to learn of Odette´s passing. I worked with her at Manulife and got close with her in our last year together. She was so fun, kind, smart, and hilarious - I wish I had known her all my life.

My heart goes out to her family, friends, and all who will feel this profound loss.

There are no words, there is nothing fair about such a loss. Odette you were one in a million... your sense of humor, smile, and lovely book "collection" of happy gentlemen ... onto the bigger things you were meant to do. I look forward to meeting again. Our condolences to Billy, Coco, Riley and family.

I have known Odette since we were about 8 years old, at school. We were friends and shared an apartment in Quebec City when we were at the university. Then we lost contact when she moved to Toronto. I am very sad to hear that she is gone... My condolences to her mother and sister, and to her husband and children.
J'offre toutes mes sympathies à madame Gagnon et à Annie...

I worked with Odette in 2019 and had the best time talking to her, getting to know her and hear her stories. Her husband and kids meant everything to her. I am so sad to hear this news but I know she loved hard and she was also loved by any.

I´ll never forget the taste of her cooking, her zest for life, the commitment she had for staying active or her funny jokes. Rest in peace Odette... you were so special.

I am so terribly sad to hear of Odette's passing. I had the pleasure of working with her for several years and she was always one of the most enthusiastic and kind people I knew. She had a great sense of humour and an infectious laugh. I had the chance to catch up with her last spring and can't believe she is gone. My thoughts and prayers are with her wonderful family and her friends.
