Otto WEININGER Obituary

WEININGER, Dr. Otto Professor Emeritus, University of Toronto
Passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his loved ones, on Monday, July 14, 2003, after a short battle with cancer. Otto is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Sylvia Singer, his devoted daughters, Lisa Pepler and Erica Weininger, and their caring husbands, Cameron Pepler and J.D. Fitzgerald. He will be deeply missed by his much loved and very special grandsons, Mackenzie Crawford Pepler and Cody James Otto Fitzgerald, who lit up his life. Otto also leaves his brother, Norman and sister, Carol Leboff. A special thank you and deep appreciation to Drs. Pauline Pariser and Howard Abrams.
Otto touched the lives of innumerable children, families, students and colleagues. He learned to help children by learning from them, and he dedicated his life to helping children and their parents develop to their greatest potential.
If desired, memorial contributions can be made to the charity of your choice that provides for the well being of children and their families. A funeral service will be held on Sunday, July 20, 2003 at the Mount Pleasant Cemetery Chapel at 12 noon.
An event to celebrate Otto's life for family, friends, colleagues and students is being planned for the autumn of 2003. For information, email: [email protected]

I still remember Dr Weininger. He tried to help my son who at 23 was diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia. I wish Dr W was still with us as I continue to struggle on alone all these years later. His dad, my husband of 58 years, died this year and that makes it much harder. I thought Dr. W was a both kind and fierce, and I appreciated him very much. He always made me feel like he liked me and it was a surprising, pleasant, and novel feeling. I don´t think I usually feel that way, so no wonder I appreciated the experience of knowing him. I still think of him and how much you, who had the privilege of knowing him well, would miss him. It is a sad part of our life this kind of loss, but maybe it helps us to treasure the present moment, and the good times.
I wish you the best for 2025,
Carol

Dr otto weininger administered various i.q. 'quizzes' to me as a teen .. it was fun.. at that time mad magazine was all the rage and soon our country underwent trudeau-mania when youth votes altered political landscapes_

This man housed in an office in thornhill during a part of my youth was very open to their child clients inserting what they thought and might equally insert his own take that might not be pleasing lol_but he was real_I send empathy to this doctor's family~
