PATRICIA HARVEY Obituary
Pat Harvey (née Hall) passed away peacefully on August 24, 2025, at the St. Clair O'Connor Community Long-Term Care in Toronto at the age of 86. A great mom to Suzanne (Tim), David (Robert), and Paul (Lisa). A wonderful Granny Pat to Samantha, Jack, Julia, and Josh. She had two loving partners in life - she is survived by her first husband, John, and predeceased by her partner of many years, Jim Schroder. Pat is survived by her sister, Anita; and brothers, Bruce (Jean) and Peter (Judy); and sister-in-law, Anna; as well as a host of Hall nieces and nephews and is predeceased by her sister, Sylvia; brother, Ken; and brothers-in-law, Peter and Buzz. Pat grew up in the rough and tumble world of life on Bushell Avenue in Toronto, long before the neighbourhood became trendy. She eventually raised three kids in Burlington, where she was way ahead of her time recycling, running a health food coop, and hosting yoga classes. She then began her career as a ceramic artist, eventually going to Sheridan College and pursuing graduate studies at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design and University of Florida. Her beautiful, flamboyant majolica work won many awards over the years and was celebrated at One of A Kind and the Gardiner Museum. She surrounded herself with other local artists, doing group shows and hosting wonderful themed parties full of colour and great food, often in her beloved garden at her Knockravie House home. She loved to travel, visiting dozens of countries - Myanmar, Turkey, India, Russia, Japan, China - and artist residences in Banff, Venice, and France. Always very community minded, she volunteered countless hours and took leadership roles at the Burlington Art Centre and Royal Botanical Gardens. One of her happiest places was being surrounded by family at the cottage on Barnum Lake, where she didn't seem to mind losing at most games - as long as everyone was having a good time. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the health and support workers for their compassionate care and support over the past several years since Pat's dementia diagnosis, especially the staff at Baycrest Hospital and St. Clair O'Connor Community Long-Term Care. Pat loved a good party and a Celebration of Life will take place in the future. If desired, donations can be made to the Burlington Art Centre or the Royal Botanical Gardens.
