Patricia RANKIN Obituary
PATRICIA ADRIENNE RANKIN nee Weiley July 11, 1935 - June 21, 2023 Pat was born in Grafton, New South Wales, 88 years ago and died peacefully in a hospital not far from there. In between she traveled a million miles creating homes in Sydney, New York, Melbourne, Toronto and finally, Suffolk Park near the surf and sand she loved so much. Along the way she touched a thousand hearts with her incredible warmth, intelligence, grace and loyalty. Despite the many moves while raising a family of six, Pat worked as a Registered Nurse, Psychotherapist, and Addiction Counsellor and earned her Master's in Public Health and her Power Squadron certification. A lover of reading and a keen intellect, her book clubs spanned more than 50 years. Travel and curiosity took her to six continents including memorable hikes in Chile and China, sails in Georgian Bay, and whale surveying off the coast of Australia. Of all her accomplishments though, Pat often said it was her children and grandchildren of whom she was most proud. Carrying her love and light forward are her devoted husband of 66 years, Jim; her sister, Kate Magarey (Donald); her brother, John Weiley (Susanne); her six children, Adrienne (Derek Fisher), Sabina (Leigh Grossmith), Tricia, Judy, Lizzy, and James (Beth Haworth); her 15 grandchildren, James, Amy, Ian, Regan, Katherine, Sarah, Erin, Tallulah, Georgia, Alex, Finley, Oscar, Michaela, Lauren and Gwen; her great- granddaughters, Maggie and Alice; and her 16 nieces and nephews and her many other loving relatives and close friends whom she cherished and who cherished her. A celebration of her life will take place on July 28th in Suffolk Park, N.S.W. In remembrance of Pat, please dedicate a swim, a newspaper read with a coffee in hand, or a donation to the YWCA (Toronto) to her.
