Patricia SKEOCH Obituary

PATRICIA FRANCES (GIFFIN) SKEOCH Passed away on December 17, 2022, age 84, at Ross Memorial Hospital in Lindsay, Ontario. Beloved wife of Kenneth Gordon Skeoch for over 51 years; and cherished mother to Lisanne (Dhaval), Gordon (Tanya), Alexander (Larry); and her dogs Trouble and Freckles. Loving grandma to Anoushka, Arjun, Madelyn and Noah. Patricia was predeceased by her parents, Reverend Harold Wesley Giffin and Eveline Bertha (Buchanan) Giffin; and sister Evelyn Downe. Patricia was born on St. Patrick's Day, 1938 in Suffolk County, Long Island. She immigrated with her family to Canada as a young girl and grew up in eastern Ontario. In 1960, she completed training at Toronto General Hospital to become a registered nurse. She worked as such in Montreal and in Lindsay where she was a Charge Nurse in the Surgical Dept in the early '70s. She studied art history at Queen's University (Arts '72) which was where she met Ken (Sc. '64, Ph.D. '72, M. Ed. '75). They were married in Ingleside, Ontario with Patricia's father presiding. In 1983, Pat and Ken custom built their country home near Fenelon Falls, Ontario where they raised their three children, many dogs and a few orphaned birds. Patricia continued her love of learning throughout her life. She adored traveling to Europe with Ken and appreciated European art and history, archaeology and almost anything to do with Italy past or present. Patricia was also an avid reader and greatly enjoyed spy fiction and crime/mystery/thriller novels by the likes of John Brady, John le Carré and Nicolas Freeling. She followed international affairs and politics and made easy work of The Globe and Mail and The Guardian quick and cryptic crossword puzzles. Patricia was a self-taught photographer, classical music lover, enthusiastic gardener and a fabulous baker. Those that knew her always remarked on her sense of humour, warmth and cleverness. Patricia will be greatly missed by her family, friends and dogs.
