Paul COGAN Obituary

PAUL IMRE COGAN (nee Kurzer) Passed away Sunday, March 20, 2022, at Belmont House, Toronto, in his 89th year. Devoted son, husband, father, cousin, and friend; Paul will always have a special place in the memories and hearts of his family and friends. The son of the late Carl and Clara Kurzer, Paul fled Budapest, Hungary, for Paris, France, in 1968 with his pregnant wife and $50 in his pockets. As a polyglot (fluent in 5 languages) and professional engineer, Paul quickly found work in Paris which allowed him to travel the world; Paul's dream, however, was to settle his young family in North America, which came to pass a short time later as Paul and his family arrived in Montreal, QC, Canada in 1970. Paul and his wife raised 2 children in Montreal, until Paul's work led him to Toronto in 1988, where he lived until his death. Paul is survived by his loving and devoted wife and life partner of 63 years, Georgie Cogan, his loving sons, Alain George Cogan (Kelly Kilpatrick) and Adrien Norbert Cogan, and cherished grandsons, Lucca Ernest Cogan, Julien Paul Cogan and Maxime Zidane Cogan. Kindness, patience, gentleness, his great devotion to his family, and his broad smile are Paul's defining and enduring attributes. Through his actions and character Paul is and will remain an ideal of temperance in the lives, memories, and hearts of his children, grandchildren, and friends. My sincere condolences to the Cogan family. Paul hired me at APV Hall Crepaco in the refrigeration department in the Montreal office in the mid 80's. He was a wonderful person and an amazing mentor and professional engineer. Will always be remembered.
I use to see Adrian at the TMR rink when he was coaching skating.

Please accept my condolences on the passing of Paul. I worked with him in Montreal and Woodbridge. He was good to me when my wife and I arrived in Montreal in 1981, gave me lots of advice and encouragement. A very nice man.
Rest In Peace Paul.
