Sadly I just came across the news that Dr. Paul had passed. Dr. Paul was like no other. I was a long time patient more than 30 years, he delivered two of my children my youngest was named after him (Paula). When he retired it was the end of an era for our family and so many others. We were always grateful for his exceptional care, patience and gratitude. I always looked forward to hearing about his adventures around the world. We had many discussions about how he wasn´t just on the earth but he was very much planted in it. RIP Paul

It is three weeks since I´ve learned of the passing of our very much respected and loved Paul Newbigging and I´m still in a bit of shock. He cared for me, my parents, and eight siblings, since opening his practice right across the road from us on Yonge street in Thornhil in the mud 60´s. After marrying I moved to Stouffville but always came back to the best doctor, and friend, anyone would ever know. He delivered my three girls, saw me, and helped me immensely, mentally, through my divorce.
When you were in his office you were always his number one priority and had his undivided attention, for however long you needed, never ever rushed. I cried the last time I saw him as he was retiring knowing how lucky I was to have been cared, truly cared, by him.
He should have lived forever. I still can´t believe he´s gone.
My deepest and heartfelt condolences to his wife and family. You, along with all the rest us, were truly blessed to have known him. He was a very unique and compassionate soul.
May your journey through grief be a gentle one.
Please, if possible, I would love to be informed of the details of his celebration of life and to join in the farewell to this amazing human being.

Thank you. May you all be at peace!

I learned to always take a book with me to my appointments because I knew I would be waiting a long time for my appointment.
What was ironic or maybe iconic would be him looking at my book first and asking about it and usually have some sort of comment about the setting and when he visited there and what he liked or disliked about the place .
He took on my grandparents when they moved from Quebec in the 70's and worked very hard to help my grandfather who had been diagnosed with Pulmanary Fibrosis.
He was my Dr from 7 years of age until he retired . I was blessed to have him and hope his passing was peaceful.

Rest peacefully Paul: you have been a most wonderful and amazing friend to me since I first met you travelling to Nepal. A friendship such as ours is the rarest go gifts, and it's been a pleasure to have shared in your life alongside mine. I'll miss you and hope one day we meet again on the other side.
