PEETER EINOLA Obituary

It is with great sadness and love that we share the unexpected passing of Peeter Einola, at his home in Toronto on March 15, 2026 at the age of 72. He was a devoted husband of almost 37 years to Svea, proud father to Henno (Lauren) and Timo and a steadfast pillar of Toronto's Estonian community. Peeter was present, proud and unwavering in his love for his family, his heritage and his friends. Papa, as he was affectionately known by his family, was the bedrock of the household with his steady demeanour and strong set of values. He loved to attend every dinner, game and competition he could in support of his sons. Peeter earned a bachelor's of industrial engineering from U of T and MBA from York University and spent almost all of his career at Ontario Power Generation. He had been keeping busy in retirement with Svea, travelling extensively, spending weekends in Kotkajärve, skiing with friends and continuing his lifelong volunteer work in the Estonian community. He was generous and tireless with his time and expertise, serving for three decades on the Board and later as Chairman of the Estonian Credit Union for seven years. Most recently he was Chairman of the Board at the Chair of Estonian Studies Foundation and also the Canadian representative of the University of Tartu Foundation. Peeter was a long-time member of the fraternity Korp! Rotalia's chapter in Toronto and was a fixture at many a Juubel and Komerss. He was particularly fond of celebrating milestones and birthdays with friends over beers and oysters at Rodney's Oyster House. Through all he accomplished in life, Peeter gave all of himself - not only because he could, but because it was what was right. Behind his resolve lay a well of kindness that left no one in his life untouched. He will be most remembered for his deep sense of duty, loyalty and devotion to the people and causes he held dear. Puhka rahus kallis Papa. A celebration of life will be held at a later date to be announced. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made in his honour to the Estonian Arts Centre/KESKUS (www.estoniancentre.ca/capital-campaign), Chair of Estonian Studies Foundation (mycharityfund.ca/charity/13312/chair-of-estonian-studies-foundation) or a Charity of Your Choice. Condolences may be sent to www.humphreymiles.com.
